Get to it O'writer [my imitation of Jazz Fantasia By:Carl Sandburg]
Beautiful scenery surrounding,
Go to it, O’writer
Plunge to the deepest part of your mind,
Let the trembling fear sink in,
as the small kid sobs to see his mother
In deathly pain
Shine like the sun as you live with pride,
bawl like the greatest thing in your life has left the world,
Never to return,
Become filled with fury as the guy just punched your wife,
You writers, give us these thoughts to run through our minds.
Elaborate and make vivid detail,
Throw out the imagery to full extent
Get to it, O’ writer.

Reflections
Memoir: Topic- My last few days in Jacksonville Florida. In this Memoir I tried to figure out the emotions and movements I made during the time of the event. While writing this piece I learned that using things you visualize in your head and jot down can make the whole paper more vivid and alluring. The Scarlet Letter Essay: Topic- Stereotyping a possible theme/ Stereotyping over the ages. In this piece I tried to figure out why stereotyping was presented so much through-out the play and how. I learned many different things in this eassy. Things such as perspective and motive took a huge part in this essay. Between the two there was similarities and differences. The similarities is the stereotyping idea that goes throughout the Scarlet Letter and is what i took on when first attending hanna. My most helpful things learned are, 1. How Puritan society is lived. 2. How symbolism can be used to promotes visualisation. 3.How to write with great discription.
Part:2
In both the pieces I revised mostly where it's to many of my thoughts and put insight from the book or imformation about the transition from the city and the country. I also revised to meet the requirements for the assignment such as putting the authors name. Transitions and example addition played a huge role in the revisions I made to my pieces. Besides all that I changed any misspelled words and grammar changes needed.
Part: 3
There is a few things I learned while reading everybody else's portfolio. Things such of new words, I looked up the meaning to. I also learned there is extreme diversity of opinons in this class though it doesn't seem it from afar. I also learned how to use brushstrokes, and how to right with more depth and discription.
Memoir
The waves crashing, the water at my knees and the nice cool breeze every night.
These things were taken advantage of and rarely visited.
Until the day came where my parents said the words that every kid dreads:
"We're moving!"
I had just entered my second school after a bad tradgedy had happened.
Then the thought of me moving tore me apart. I just couldn't believe we were leaving the place I lived my whole life. The people. The nights outside with the sound of the ocean and the beautiful sunsets with the palm trees. I never felt so miserable in my life.
I had some amazing friends, school hours ranging from 7:10-2:15 and early release every other Wednesday not to mention, the amazing relationship I was in. All getting left behind as the beach line faded and the country and hills appeared into my sight. Tears started to flow, I was heading towards a totally different environment and my life was going to change, more than likely for the worse.

In today's society you might hear words like emo, prep, jock, and loner. These are known as stereotypes. Stereotyping is based on a persons looks, hobbies, or reputation and is a big thing in high schools, business, and other gatherings of a variety of people. But did you know that it was also around in the times of The Scarlet Letter by: Nathaniel Hawthorne? The reason for this is more than likely due to his ancestor who wouldn't admit to his mistakes in the Salem Witch Craft Trials. The book shows how stereotyping is common but is not as correct as it seems. The Scarlet letter can be compared to the present times, and this is how.
Picture this: New people have come to a new town in a new high school. What do you think they look for first? More than likely somebody to socialize with. Most of the judgement of who they talk to is based on stereotyping them based on looks and who they hang out with. For all they know they could be finding a extremely great friend in another group with and interesting reputation. I noticed the same thing happened to Hester. When the people pass through town they gave her looks of pity and disgrace, just by a little letter on her chest. "The young and pure would be taught to look at her... as the figure, the body, the reality of sin." For all they know she could've changed since the letter was bestowed on her, but due to stereotyping they never bother to talk to her because they are worried about getting stereotyped also.
In addition to getting stereotyping by what you do, the people you hang out with or even your families mistakes play a big role in stereotyping. Something such as "Oh my gosh! He hangs out with a gay guy, so he must be gay too!" Is an example. I noticed that Pearl has to majorly overcome this type of stereotyping. The people treat Pearl as if she is her mother. "She never created a friend." "It was inexpressibly sad-then what depth of sorrow to a mother, who felt in her own heart the cause. " Pearl should be able to get her whole life to make her own reputation but instead people stereotype her and change her life for her. though this is a sad way to look at it, it is how human kind works. Everybody does it, and it hasn't changed over this many years.
Types of punishment might have changed but the over all stereotyping and secluding other people because of something that sets them apart has stayed the same. It might seem like it only happened recently due to the change in society. But next time think about Pearl and Hester from The Scarlet Letter.
